Hello there!!
I’m Shauna. I’m 30 something years old and I have been married to my husband Nathan for almost 16 years. We met in college at freshmen orientation and married less than two years later. We’ve always jumped right into life, took huge leaps of faith and prayed it all worked out.
We have been in full time church ministry for the past 16 years. I oversee the church nursery and he does a lot of things, from leading worship, to preaching, to helping lead our children’s ministry. There’s nothing he can’t do. He’s pretty amazing. I still can’t believe he’s mine.
We have 6 beautiful children; 4 boys and 2 girls. Three are adopted and three are biological. The journey that led us to them was nothing short of a miracle.
I grew up in Africa as a missionary kid from the ages of 7-14. The time spent over there shaped my heart and mind for the world of adoption and working with vulnerable children.
I have spent the past 4 years working part time for an incredible adoption agency, All Blessings International. I help with the first big step in the adoption process, the home study.
If I had to sum myself up in four words it would be: mother, coffee, warmth and passion.
At this point in my life I live and breathe motherhood, as all moms know. It never stops. Like really… laundry, lunches, dirt… it never ends.
I could not function without my endless amounts of coffee. Seriously, I might need an intervention. But really… don’t intervene.
I love to be warm. If you know me personally you know I cannot function when I’m cold. My entire world shuts down. The hotter, the better!
I feel things deeply. Sometimes it feels like a curse but I try my hardest to view it as a blessing. My emotions run deep.
I am so excited to share our story. So excited to not only share our story, but to shine a light on the different perspectives of the adoption world. There are so many different perspectives of adoption, and so many people who play a different part of the story. This blog is simply about the journey of our family and adoption.
However, before I leave you, let me introduce you to the rest of my crew…
