Motherhood keeps me busy. It’s been a full summer with so many things going on. I plan on refocusing on this blog once the kids are back in school, which is just around the corner. However, here are some ideas that have helped me with the busyness of life.
Teeth Brushing
Teeth brushing is such task!
We use these timers I found on Amazon. (Click the picture to take you to it the site)
They are amazing! They brush for a minute on top, flip the timer, and then a minute on bottom. These timers work wonders. Buy the whole 10 pack, you will lose them over time, I promise. And if you don’t you are one amazing person and we should be best friends. 🙂
Each kid has their own cup that holds their toothpaste, toothbrush and timer. I also buy each of the middle three kids their own colored toothpaste. When toothpaste ends up on the walls… I know who did it. LOL!
Same Socks
We have three types of socks for 8 people. It took us years to get here, but when the pile of unfolded socks requires its own zip code, well … I decided to throw them all away! Yes, I threw away an entire trash bag full of socks. Sometimes you just need that fresh start! It felt so good!!
All three oldest boys and Dad can all wear the same socks. So they all wear the same black socks, same size, same brand, all exactly the same. When it’s time to fold socks all I have to do is find two black socks and they match! Every time! The two girls and I wear white socks, again, same size and brand. And the little guy wears gray and white socks. Same thing. Every white sock matches! It’s glorious!
We keep all the socks in a two cubby bin in our breezeway. All the boy socks go in the top basket all the girls sock go in the bottom basket.
Snack Tower
I have a snack tower that I keep stocked. When this thing gets low I know it’s time to grocery shop again. I love our snack tower. The kids do too. They can have anything they want from it when it’s snack time. During the summer we have 2 or 3 snack times a day. During the school days we have 2. This tower keeps the brain work out of what the kids can eat and keeps the questions about snack time at a minimum.
If you have kids you need one of these! I have a picture of my snack tower that I bought from Hobby Lobby about 6 years ago. The second picture is a link to one on Amazon, because who doesn’t love Amazon. 🙂
Uncrustable Sandwiches
I feel like its a universal law that children don’t like bread crust. I don’t get it… but I know how to deal with it! With the uncrustable cutter sandwiches for 6 kids is super easy. When school comes I prep a lot of these at once, put them in ziplock bags and freeze them. The kids love them. If you make these put peanut butter on both sides and jelly in between the peanut butter. It keeps the sandwich from getting soggy from the jelly. I pull them out frozen before school and by the time lunch comes around they are perfect. (Click the picture and it will take you to Amazon. Seriously these are amazing and work so well!)
Laundry Baskets
Each kid has their own laundry baskets for clean clothes. Nathan made me this amazing table, I love it! I’m able able to put each child’s clothes in the their basket, they can take their basket up to their room and put them away. It’s great because I don’t have laundry all over the house and they always know where to find their clean clothes.
These are some of my life hacks. We are constantly looking at how to make things easier. What are some of you life hacks?
